The very heart of the ministry of
Osborne Neighborhood Church is missions. Founding Pastor Jack Stiles
wanted Osborne to have a great worldwide missions outreach - and this has
happened. Our missionaries have impacted every continent. Currently
thirty-one missionaries are financially supported by the church, as well as
five missionary organizations, and a number of missionaries are supported in
prayer. During the last fifty years of this ministry, a number of people have
been called to full-time missionary service in countries around the world. Many
of the young people at Osborne have gone on short-term mission outreaches while
others have gone through the YWAM (Youth With A Mission) Discipleship Training
School, which includes a 3-month teaching on knowing God and making Him known,
then a two month outreach in another country. The Osborne Mission's Vision
isn't limited to young people; some of our families and senior citizens have
also been on missions trips.
The Mission's Committee of Osborne
Neighborhood Church exists to spread the Missions Vision, encourage our
missionaries, encourage people to pray for our missionaries, and to make people
aware of our missionaries, their ministry and needs. To encourage interest in
missions, once a month a missionary speaks in a church service and a missionary
visits the Children's Sunday School classes to teach them about missions. Once
a year there is a special Mission's Night Banquet, which includes international
food and a program with special emphasis on
missions.
To encourage our missionaries,
birthday cards are sent to them, their addresses are available for people to
write to them, and newsletters are written to keep them in touch with Osborne's
news.
God has blessed this church with
its big missionary heart to reach all around the world!
